How to get to the estate, and how far it really is
We are inside the city of Rio de Janeiro, at its western end, on a paved road with private parking at the gate. Here is everything you need to get here — including how long the drive takes from each part of the city.
The geography, without jargon
Where we are, in terms you already know
The estate is inside the municipality of Rio de Janeiro. Not a neighbouring town, not a two-hour transfer to another state: the same city as Copacabana, Ipanema, Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf, at its western end.
Rio is a long city. It runs from the beaches most visitors know, in the south, to a western edge where the built city thins out and the Atlantic Forest takes over. We are at that western end, past Barra da Tijuca and past Recreio dos Bandeirantes — far enough out that the estate has 50,000 m² of forest and gardens around it, and close enough in that your guests are still in Rio.
The practical consequence, and the honest one: this is a drive, not a walk from a hotel. Guests will arrive by car, taxi, ride app or hired transfer, and that is worth putting in your invitation rather than leaving to discovery.

How long is the drive?
The first question anyone asks is “how far is it?”. It depends on where you start — and the table answers it for the eight starting points guests actually use.

Distances are by road, measured from the estate gate. Times are estimates for a Saturday afternoon: the lower number is an empty road, the higher one allows for ordinary weekend traffic. On a wedding day, plan on the higher number — a wrong travel time is not a bad impression, it is a guest who misses the ceremony — and check the route in your map app the day before, with the date and time of the event.

Give a driver the address or the coordinates. The district name — Ilha de Guaratiba — is what you will need in the address field of a form, but it is not a landmark anyone navigates by, including locals.
Arriving from abroad
From the airports: Galeão (GIG) and Santos Dumont (SDU)
Galeão — Rio de Janeiro/Tom Jobim International (GIG) is the airport international flights land at. It is on the northern side of the city, on an island in Guanabara Bay, and it is the one to put on your invitation for guests flying in from abroad.
Santos Dumont (SDU) sits on the waterfront next to the city centre and handles domestic routes, chiefly the shuttle to São Paulo. Guests connecting through São Paulo may land here instead — worth checking before anyone books, because the two airports are not in the same place and a guest who waits at the wrong one has a problem on arrival day.
Both airports are on the far side of the city from us — 55–90 min by car from GIG on a Saturday afternoon. The realistic plan for a guest arriving from abroad is: land at GIG, go to the hotel, sleep, and come to the event the next day or later — not straight from the terminal to the ceremony.
Transfer, van and ride apps
Arranging transport for your guests
Transport is not part of the venue rental, and we do not run a shuttle of our own. What most couples with guests coming from abroad do is hire a private transfer or a van from the hotel district and back — one departure before the ceremony, one or two after the party. It is the single measure that removes the most anxiety from a guest list that does not speak Portuguese.
Ride-hailing apps work here in both directions, and coverage in the area is good. For the ride home late at night, the practical advice is the same one we give locals: agree it in advance with whoever is leaving at the same hour, rather than standing at the gate at two in the morning opening an app.
We do not have a transfer company to recommend by name. For a group, a van hired from the hotel district is the usual solution: hotel front desks in Barra and Recreio book them, and asking for an English-speaking driver is an ordinary request.
Inside the gate
Parking, valet and drivers
Parking is private, inside the estate, and included in the venue rental, with valet — along with a backup generator, furniture, reception staff, cleaning, a security team. Nobody looks for a space on the street and nobody hires a valet company separately.
Hired drivers wait on site for the duration of the event. If your guests are arriving in a van, tell us the size when you brief us, so the arrival is planned rather than improvised at the gate.

Where your guests will sleep
There is no accommodation on the estate. The suites here are getting-ready rooms for the day of the event: the bridal suite opens early in the morning and the groom apartment is released before the invitation time. That is what they are for, and it is the whole of what they are.
For guests coming from outside Rio, the nearest hotel district is Recreio dos Bandeirantes, a few minutes away by car. Our team recommends a specific hotel there and gives the name during the visit; it is not printed here until that recommendation is agreed with the hotel itself, because putting a company's name in writing without speaking to them creates a problem for both sides.
Guests who want to be near the beaches they came to see usually split the trip: a few nights in Copacabana or Ipanema, and the night of the wedding closer to the venue. That decision belongs in your invitation, early.

Where exactly is the venue?
The estate is at Caminho do Cafuá, 480 — Ilha de Guaratiba, Rio de Janeiro/RJ, CEP 23020-222. That address is inside the municipality of Rio de Janeiro — the same city as Copacabana and Christ the Redeemer — at its western end, past Barra da Tijuca and Recreio dos Bandeirantes. Give a driver the address or the coordinates, not the district name.
Is the road to the venue paved?
It is paved all the way to the gate. There is no dirt track on the route and no car needs four-wheel drive to get here. The landmark our team gives on the phone is the tunnel: the estate road begins just after it.
Do ride-hailing apps work out there?
They do, in both directions, and coverage in the area is good — we tell people that before they ask, because the ride home is the first worry a guest has. For a late departure, the practical advice is the same as anywhere: agree the ride back with whoever is leaving at the same time.
Is there parking at the venue?
There is. Parking is private, inside the estate, with valet, and it is part of the venue rental — not a separate charge and not street parking. Your guests and their drivers stop inside the gate.
Can guests sleep at the venue?
No. Nobody stays overnight here: the suites on the estate are getting-ready rooms for the day of the event. The hotel our team recommends is the E-Suites Hotel Recreio Shopping, inside Recreio Shopping, less than 15 minutes away by car.
Which airport should guests fly into?
Galeão (GIG) is the international airport of Rio de Janeiro, so that is where guests arriving from abroad land. Santos Dumont (SDU), next to the city centre, handles domestic routes and is the one to use for a connection through São Paulo. Both are on the opposite side of the city from us: allow 55–90 min by car from GIG on a Saturday afternoon.
